« Back to Blogs How Gujarat's New Data Centre Policy is acelerating Dholera's growth while Sambhrant City is watching the future closely

With the launch of its first Data Centre Policy, Gujarat has once again reinforced its position as one of India’s most forward-looking states. The policy has an ambitious target to attract investments of ₹6 lakh crore and develop 7.5 GW of data centre capacity, thereby positioning the state as a large destination for digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence. At the heart of this vision is Dholera Special Investment Region (Dholera SIR) which has emerged as one of the largest beneficiaries of the new policy in terms of exclusive incentives for eligible projects. This is yet another milestone in Dholera’s transition from a planned smart city to a futuristic economic and technology hub.

In recent years, Dholera has been praised for its planned infrastructure, industrial ecosystem and strategic location. The new Data Centre Policy builds on these strengths by encouraging investments in hyperscale cloud facilities, AI infrastructure, enterprise data centres and advanced digital services. Dholera is expected to attract global technology companies, digital infrastructure developers and businesses looking for scalable and future-ready locations with focused incentives and long-term planning. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also elaborated on this vision by emphasising Dholera’s potential to be one of the world's largest data centre cities.

Large scale digital infrastructure requires more than land. It depends on connectivity, reliable utilities, policy support and a long-term development framework and Dholera is slowly building that foundation. The Ahmedabad-Dholera Motorway is expected to significantly reduce the travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera, thus improving the regional connectivity for businesses, industries and future residents. These projects are building an ecosystem that is designed for continued economic activity, industrial development and smart city infrastructure. Every new policy announcement adds another layer to the long-term growth story of Dholera.

As Dholera continues attracting investment across industries, the need for well planned residential and mixed use developments is expected to grow alongside it. Sambhrant City has been envisioned with an understanding that smart cities evolve in phases. Infrastructure, industries, businesses and communities develop together, creating an ecosystem rather than isolated projects. While the new Data Centre Policy focuses on digital infrastructure, it also reinforces the broader direction in which Dholera is heading. As economic activity expands, thoughtfully planned developments become an important part of supporting the people who will live, work, and invest in the region.

Sambhrant City reflects this long-term perspective. Rather than responding to short-term trends, it aligns itself with Dholera's larger vision of planned growth, organised development, and sustainable urban expansion.

Policies can generate a lot of momentum, but it’s consistent execution over time that makes a city. The launch of Gujarat’s Data Centre Policy is more than just a policy announcement. This is another signal of the state’s confidence in Dholera as a strategic location for technology, innovation and future investment. For investors, businesses and families looking at Dholera, this underscores the importance of understanding the long term trajectory of the region rather than focusing only on the present.

And as Dholera writes its next chapter, Sambhrant City continues to be a part of that larger journey, growing along with a city being built for the future.
